A surf school for all levels
Surtain Surf School is a surf school based in Normandy (Cotentin), which will take you to several surf spots during your stay, depending on the conditions and your level.
With 20 years’ experience in surf coaching, Ben will adapt your progression objectives after assessing your level (beginner to advanced).
He will also offer you 1 or 2 video analyses during your course. These filmed waves will give you concrete, personalised feedback on the areas of progression to follow for your surf sessions.

Our surf school is open from April to November
Surtain Surf School is a surf school based in Normandy, in Surtainville, very close to the surfing areas, which offers different formulas according to your needs and desires.
The Normandy surf school is itinerant/travelling. After a warm welcome at the surf school, you’ll head off in a lorry, accompanied by Ben, to the most suitable surf spot. If you’d like to find out more about our surf school, don’t hesitate to follow us on our instagram account: Surtain Surf.
How does a surf lesson at Surtain Surf work?
The meeting time will have been arranged with our team. Once there, you’ll be fitted with a wetsuit and we’ll choose your board. The equipment will be loaded into the lorry, and then it’s off with Ben to the spot best suited to the weather conditions.
Once there, everyone gets kitted out (with a poncho, that’s even better!) and heads for the beach, with their board for the start of the instructions. The session lasts 1h30.
Once you’ve changed, it’s back to the surf school.

Frequently asked questions
How to come at Surtain Surf?
You can come from Cherbourg or Valognes train stations, take the bus or cab to Surtainville. Parking spaces are also available on site.
How old do you have to be to sign up for a surf course?
Classes are generally open to children over 10 and adults. Slots for under-10s can be arranged, depending on demand.
Is surf equipment provided?
Equipment (surfboard and wetsuit) is loaned and made available throughout your stay. If you wish, you can bring your own equipment.
Can I rent accommodation if I don't surf?
Yes, the Guest House is open all year round. For the Surf House, only in low season.
How old do you have to be to take part in a surf and accommodation holiday?
You must be at least 18 years old.
Are pets allowed?
We love animals, but unfortunately we don’t allow them at Surtain Surf.

Can I cancel my stay?
As stated in the general terms and conditions of sale:
- Up to 30 days before the scheduled arrival date, the amount of the deposit paid may be refunded, bank transaction fees will be retained.
- Within 30 days of the scheduled arrival date, the deposit paid will be retained in full by Surtain Surf.
- Within 10 days of the scheduled arrival date, the full amount of the stay will be deducted.
